How “Windows Phone 7 Series” Makes Sense

I’m sure every single person in the tech world can agree that Windows
Phone 7 Series
is a stupid name for a product, almost as bad as iPad.

However, if we take a step back and re-think about this incredulously long name and what it means
exactly, you’ll see it may not be as entirely stupid as it was at first glance.

Windows
Phone 7 Series
describes the combined devices that will be running this new Operating System.
Just like the older OS devices will be called Windows Phone Classic Series
“Series” is simply an added word to describe the devices together.

Therefore, in truth,
Windows Phone 7 is the name of the OS itself, which is a lot less stupid than Windows
Phone 7 Series
.

I’m still wondering if there is a specific way they could make
the name for the series itself more appealing.

  1. I still think that Windows Phone 7 is still an incredibly long name for an mobile OS. I
would have chosen something like WinMobi7, or something along those lines.

    But, is it
just me, or does Windows Phone 7 seem a bit sluggish in the engadget videos? (no, it's not my RAM
    acting up.)

  2. I too think it looked a bit sluggish. Personally, I think they just haven't
finished polishing up the way the user-interface responds (at least I pray thats the case, because if it IS
this is the best phone I've ever seen in my life).

It is a long name, but not too
long. I mean, the previous phones were what "Windows Mobile 6.5" now its "Windows Phone 7." Its not that big
of a change, and not one that matters all that much anyway, its just an operating system.
