The Day the Internet Broke

Everything was going normal, until I wanted to go look at my feeds using the wonderful Google Reader of course, when this showed up in my browser:

Then, I asked twitter about it and got a reply from who is now a newfound friend @MathGeek06, who reported that he too was having troubles.  After a couple messages or so, I got this:

It looks like the Internets are conspiring against me tonight.  Google, tell me, why are you crashing so much lately?  We need you, we depend on you, YOU ARE THE INTERNET!

I'm just kidding of course, but this has allowed me ample time to reflect on how dependent I am on central services.  Just about the same time as I was giggling at Dave Winer for blogging about Why Decentralizing Twitter is so important. I'm starting to agree with him.

WiiBrew Homebrew Channel update

From bushing's blog, HackMii, the un-"official" Homebrew Channel has gotten a massive amount of updates.  Including a very nice mini-banner, the sound on the banner, and a wonderful user-interface.  It's quite beautiful and workable.  I hope it includes Wiimote support too!  Heh.

I can admit to being impatient about it, but now that I see some updates, I'm glad that they've been taking the time to make it the best that it can!

I do submit, for your approval, that a developer log would be great for us nerds who really want to see what's going on, and how it's going!

Custom Channels for the Wii

Channels for the Wii are getting closer and closer, with the newest bit done by PaRaDoX; yes, finally, custom banners!  Below is a screen shot posted to #wiidev not too long ago.

He will be releasing documentation and the new WAD file for the NES emulator soon.  Good job!

Digsby adds Facebook Chat

image

They've done it now.  Digsby is the first IM client (that I'm aware of) to add Facebook chat to their client.  Now, we all know that Facebook chat is readily accessible on the website from all the popular web browsers, but it really is a wonderful direction for Digsby to continue moving in.
